When working with small businesses Lauren McLean Design ties your marketing plan to your graphic design solutions. The below design workflow applies to small businesses only. When I am working in a freelance mode, helping to supplement your existing graphic design staff, I adhere to the workflow of the design dept in your particular corporation.

As you fill in the answers on this brief Survey Questionnaire you are providing the essential tools to help me develop smart graphic design based on your marketing strategy for your business. If you do not have a marketing strategy this questionnaire will aid you in developing one.

Design Process
The initial meeting is where I gather the information about your company and you gather information about what I can do for you, including a review of my physical portfolio. This initial meeting can take 1-3 hours depending on the complexity of your business. In the meeting we will discuss the strategy questionnaire. Shortly after the meeting I will submit a quote/proposal. It will include an estimated time frame for your project, a cost breakdown, project description with deliverables and business terms. After the acceptance of the proposal the design phase starts.

The Design process consists of 4 phases
The Design proposal is based on 4 phases with payment due at the end of phase 2, 3, and 4. Breaking the invoicing into 3 incremental payments.

Phase 1- is the sketch/rough draft stage. I will roughly layout ideas. The strategy can be discussed at this point with rough sketches. I will usually present about 3 ideas at this stage.

Phase 2- From the sketches you will select, a direction and I will present 1 or 2 comprehensive ideas. Once comprehensive ideas are presented and accepted by you this ends phase 2.

Phase 3 - After you choose the comprehensive idea, we refine the idea, by making adjustment and tweaking the comprehensive idea. Once you approve the final, phase 3 is complete.

Phase 4 – I will prepare the job for the printer, flight check the document, make sure all RGB files are converted to CMYK, and collect fonts and images. At this point you are welcome to take it to a printer of your choice or utilize my printing services. Using my printing services at 10% above printers quote, is a cost effective way to make sure you have the best product.

Printing Services
As part of the graphic design services, Lauren McLean Design offers printing services that oversee the printing process for you. I will:

• Obtain a minimum of three printing quotes for each of your print design projects.

• Communicate directly with your printer to oversee and troubleshoot the printing process for you. You are always welcome to join me on the press check if you would like to be there.

• Arrange for proofs, packaging and shipping.


The fee for this printing service is the cost of printing plus 10% on your selected printing quote.
